All,

I recently moved to Ontario from California. while I was in California I got a traffic ticket. I checked the details of my ticket today and it shows me two options:
1)Bail Forfeiture: Pay and close case with no further action necessary. - 238$
2)Traffic School: Pay all fines and fees and attend traffic school. -305$

Since I am no longer in California, i am confused if it will be Ok to go with with Bail forfeiture or not. If I opt for bail forfeiture, will I have any problem in exchanging licence in Ontario (I have not exchanged till yet due to COVID-19). What about insurance? What problem will I face if I not attend traffic school?

Thanks

If you go with bail forfeiture, the demerit point will appear on your California driving record and will be reported to your insurance. I don't know if Ontario will look at your California record, but if they do, then they might assign the equivalent to your driving record in Ontario.

If you take driving school, it'll show on your California driving record as you having an ticket but that you took corrective action, so the demerit point won't be added and your insurance won't be notified. If you don't have any more tickets after 3 years, the incident is purged from your record.
