Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi guys!
Im just wondering:
My wife is here awaiting PR (inland). She has never driven before, and she plans to write the G1 test (the first level test for Ontario drivers - ie: learners permit) next week, as you dont need to be a resident for this from the licensing perspective.
Is this violating any terms of the Temporary visitors status that she holds?
I know she cant work and cant study, but is there anything prohibiting her from driving ie" getting a valid licence before AIP?

Thanks!

It absolutely shouldn't be any problem. Several people here have mentioned getting driver's licenses while being on work permits or other temporary status.

don't think so.
My husband got his driver license as soon as he got in Canada exchanging his US driver license for it. even got a ticket already ;)
Don't worry, you are OK ;)

hahah your husband sounds like me! my first day driving internationally I got a ticket too! :-X
thanks for your answers guys!
I will let you know if she passes the test heheh
M

GOOD LUCK!!! ;D

Hi there!
I'm awaiting for PR card and I've received G1 license without any problem.
The point is I've used G1 license even for immigration purpose - I've assumed my husband's name and sent license to immigration service.
They say IM likes when wife assumes new name. Also G1 shows your new address. So it proves that you're both live together.
