There is a question in IMM_008 for dependent..question 13 page 3: current country of residence where u have to put dates:
Now my spouse study permit just got renew and its from 2012 to 2014...but before that it was from 2010 till 2012...she is in PhD program...so what dates will i use
dates in current study permit? or from 2010 ?

I would go with the most recent. So the 2012 to 2014. If they need more info, they will look up immigration history in GCMS. You are providing the most relevant/pertinent information. Her current permit is the one that allows her to attend school, therefore the most relevant.
