Hi everyone,

I was about to file an application for sponsoring my spouse but I got a call from my immigration consultant that there might be an issue with my addresses. The scenario is- I have been working in Northern Quebec for the last three years. The first two years were contractual. Last year I got permanent teaching position in the same board. The board has provided me with an accommodation. But my permanent address is of Ontario. All my government IDs and document have my permanent address of Ontario. I do not intend to reside permanently in Quebec. I was told that the IRCC officer might question this? What should I do? Any suggestions or comments apppreciated.

Why do you need the immigration consultant?

I read the first line and said to myself, your first mistake is hiring a consultant to do a spousal sponsorship. Just read properly and do it yourself consultants are incompetent and scammers … you are better off doing it by yourself or hiring an actual lawyer and not a consultant.

. So I have actual hired a lawyer and I got a call from her consultant who is preparing my application. She is a reputed immigration lawyer. I don't doubt that. If you have a suggestion plz let me know regarding my addresses

Sounds like you reside there. Doesn't matter whether you "intend" to reside there permanently if you factually reside there.

Different matter if it was just a few months.

yep, this is an issue from spousal sponsorship.

And you probably do have to redo your taxes.

Would add that you don’t appear to qualify for OHIP and need to apply for RAMQ.

Thankyou, FYI I work on a reserve in Northern Quebec and don't stay here throughout year. I understand how the OHIP works so I am pretty sure I qualify for OHIP

If you work there during the school year you likely spend 6-7 months there. You are also likely a Quebec tax resident.
