Hello,

I was engaged to a Canadian for 4 years unfortunately she broke up with me recently, I was very invested in moving to Canada? it was a dream beyond just the relationship, years of research and I was due to push on a move in 2015 - maybe on reflection its good the break happened when it did rather than actually in Canada

Can I assume any dream and plan to move to Canada is now over? I am a self employed individual with a contract with a big US web provider providing B2B technical sales and a small client base I provide Managed IT services to in the United Kingdom

I would have money to rent, support myself, and expand my self employment in Canada but am I right in assuming this is no longer a reality without the relationship? I think I know the answer but for me its worth having a last shot at my chances and gathering advice

I am also looking into International Experience Canada and I am curious if being self employed rules me out of this? its not what I am looking for, but would at least allow me to spend some extended time in Canada if lucky enough to get a shot

Thank you in advance everyone

Hi,

Do not surrender! Canada has a lot of opportunities and various immigration programs. Study http://www.cic.gc.ca/ thoroughly and figure out under which of these programs you can be eligible.

For instance, check Provintional Nomenee programs. There are a lot of people who have already moved to Manitoba or Nova Scotia by first passing a face-to-face interview with an immigration officer. They happen on an annual basis, you must register, attend the interview and if you manage to convince the officer you can be economically established there and contribute to that province and if they are interested in you, they request you to apply for a PR and the rest goes much easier.

Have a good luck!
