We're about to submit our documents for a spousal sponsorship.

Problem is for biometrics nearest location is 2.5 hours drive away and they are closed weekends.

We'll be visiting a city that has a biometrics centre soon and could therefore do it then, but wondering if one has to wait to receive a letter or if doing it before sending your application is allowed (or in parallel) ?

If submitting the biometrics is not on the current document checklist then I believe they will send an email with instructions later on in process like they do for medical exam. But it’s a bit of a grey area because that biometric thing has only just started today so nobody really knows yet how it’s going to work.

Well I found the reply on their website that didn't have it a few days ago IIRC, it says you need to receive their letter first before setting up an appointment.
