Does work experience need to be related to qualification?

A friend of mine is planning to apply for Express Entry, his work experience is in the restaurant management field NOC 0631 but his bachelor's degree is totally irrelevant.

Is he able to apply for EE or does he need a related work experience to his degree?

The field of the degree doesn't matter. Experience should match the NOC you indicate when applying.
