Effective October 25, 2012, sponsored spouses or partners must now live together in a legitimate relationship with their sponsor for two years from the day they receive permanent residence status in Canada.

Just remember that the rule states "live together" (I have read other references on the CIC website to this rule where it rephrases it to "cohabitate")...short periods apart are normal in relationships, but you should be prepared to explain any lengthy periods apart.
