Does the security check require 8 to 12 months?

Hi all. I was told by a friend in the forum that normal security check done by CIC only requires 1 month. However, if CIC sent our files to CSIS for a detailed security check, it will cost 8 to 12 months. Does it make sense? Please share your experience. Thank you!

It's a possibility. But I would not rely on it. Application to application differs. Also VO to VO.

Hi,
the security check also relays on your country of origin. For applicants from the middle east countries and Iran the security check takes usually (not always) longer time than average. I've seen some applicants on this forum waited even 12 months for the security check.

It seems true. But I am from China and just a student in my country.
