Does the new IELTS equivalency chart apply to my case?

My application has been given the file number on 13 Oct 2006.

and my IELTS Test date is 21 Aug 2008.

So, it is clear that my application and test report are dated before 28 Nov 2008.

the score is 7.5(L), 7.5(R), 7.0(W), 6.5(S), so my language proficiency point is 14 under the old equivalency chart.

However, according to recent modification in IELTS equivalency charts made on 28 Nov 2008,

they have lowered the required test score for "HIGH proficiency" in Reading, Writing and Speaking sections from 7.0 to 6.5.

So, I began to wonder whether my test report can be assessed under the new equivalency chart,

as my language proficiency point will rise from 14 to 16.

So, my question is,

"Does anybody here know which equivalency chart will be applied to my case?"

some people say my test report will be dual-assessed by the visa officer both under the old and new chart

and will be given favorable points - in my case, points calculated under the new chart -,

as the CIC document OP6(FSW) clearly states that

"Visa officers should also assess applications and test reports which pre-date November 28, 2008

against the above correlation table if it is to the applicants advantage, i.e., resulting in more points

for language proficiency."

Meanwhile, some other people claim that this modification is only applicable to

those who have application and test reports dated after 28 Nov 2008, as such modifications are not retroactive.

I really would like to hear your opinions on this matter.

Thank you.

Could you please give me the link to this page about ----- the recent modification in IELTS equivalency charts made on 28 Nov 2008, that
they have lowered the required test score for "HIGH proficiency" in Reading, Writing and Speaking sections from 7.0 to 6.5.

Certainly u will get 14 points according to the old system. There is a clear indication that, new ielts equivalency chart is applicable only for the applicants who apply after 28th november or sit for IELTS after 28 th November.

Thanks

My friend who applied 2 years ago, & now after she was requested for the papers update she sat the ILETS on the 11th of November. Will these new changes apply to her case if she hasn't mailed her application updated papers yet?

No. because she applied according to the previous simplified application process. New IELTS equivalency chart will be applicable only for the applicants who will apply after 28th November. Application before 28th November will be under old IELTS equivalency chart.

Hi,

Test score equivalency chart (applications received or test reports dated after November 28, 2008)

My opinion is that the date of the test is important, not the date of the application itself.

Does it mean that if one who applied according to the old regulations & just sit a test on any date after the 28th of november & that person will be assessed by the new ILETS scale?

it is not too hard I did the first try and I got 6.5 in speaking.

It has been mentioned also in the latest documents showing changes that visa officer should consider the ilets test result dated before 28-11-2008 if it is in applicant advantage

Cheers
