Does study permit remain valid if I get a new passport and still possess the old passport?

Hello,

I need to get a new passport, simply because I have run out of pages on my old one. However, my Canadian study permit and TRV does not expire for another year. Is it okay to get a new passport and not apply for a study permit extension until next year? Will I face problems with immigration even if I carry both passports with me?

Apply for your new passport. Your study permit and TRV will remain valid. Carry both passports if you need to re-enter Canada.
