Does the status change on ECAS or on your CIC application once the 'completeness check' is done? How do we know when documents submitted have been checked for completeness, or do we not know until we get PR (or the app is rejected obviously)?

Connor, from the above, if your ECAS is "Application Received", your application is deemed to be complete. I would like to ask if anybody got their application rejected even though their ECAS was "Application Received".

Your application can still be refused after your ECAS status changed to "Application Received" BUT not on the grounds of "INCOMPLETE Application".

CIC has asked for additional document from me and im yet to submit it. Doesn't that mean the application is still incomplete, until I submit what they asked for? And yet my ECAS status is "Application Received" changed from "In Process".

What document are they asking for?

I suppose this question is for me. They have asked for a RCMP criminal background check report which I have applied for and awaiting results.

RCMP criminal background check report is not mandatory. it is not part of the express entry completeness checklist. IO decides who needs RCMP criminal background check report. Your application is complete and Singalingali's answer is correct.

Are you sure? My ECAS status has been "In Process" from the day I submitted my application - it was at no point "Application Received". Surely they cant have checked all my documents for completeness so quickly. Did anyone else who submitted their application have "In Process" as their ECAS status immediately after submitting?

Your application is complete and that is why your ECAS is "Application Received" However , the IO can ask for extra documents if they deem it fit. You folks already in Canada seem to be getting preferrential treatment in terms of speed of processing. At least, the IO has looked at your application. I would like to see some of us who have applied from outside of Canada receive PPRs. It would really be nice of them to do that.

When did you submit and have you passed your medicals?

In the ECAS page, you have 3 links at the bottom one each for PR application made from outside canada, inside canada and PR for FSW made to Nova scotia Sydney office. Each of these links opens up "Status" explanation page in tabular format. For me, the appropriate link is PR application submitted from inside canada. The explanation page does not even have a status "Application Received" defined and yet that is my ECAS status. I can't think of a reason why its not defined for my category which is PR app submitted from inside canada. I can't directly infer that application is complete from this, even though it feels good to think its complete.

I submitted it on May 1st, no I haven't passed my medical yet, they don't seem to have received it yet

For many whose Medicals has passed and background check changed to In Progress (in mycic), within few days, ECAS status has changed from In Process to Application Received and a third line gets updated in ECAS about medicals received.
