Does my wife's student visa become invalid if I apply for spouse PR? pls advice

Hi, I am a Canadian PR and my wife is here on student visa. I want to apply for my wife's PR within Canada. If I apply for her PR, does her current student visa become invalid? Does she have to apply for a temporary resident permit to stay in Canada and to be able to travel outside and return to Canada? Please advice.
