Hi Everyone,
I have a 3 year Post-grad work permit (PGWP) expiring in May this year. I am a Provincial nominee in Alberta and my PR file is in process now. I have to renew my work permit to work legally until I get my PR.

1) Do I certainly need an LMO from my company to get a new work permit? What if my company doesn't give an LMO? That's my problem now: they want me to work with them, but they don't want to apply for an LMO for some reason. Can I just get for a new work permit without LMO?

2) Let's say I couldn't get an LMO and couldn't get a work permit either, and I became unemployed, will I lose my Provincial nominee status? Will it stop my PR process?

Thanks!

Hi,

This is what I read about new Bridging Open Work Permits a week ago. What I am not sure of is whether this programme has been implemented or not:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/2012-12-17.asp

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2012/ob485.asp

Hope this helps.
