I got full time field job as well. But employer is saying he can apply for my LMIA.
Just want to check what is the right time for that right now or after 1 year experience.....
Depends if your intent is to apply for permanent residence (PR), and whether or not you already have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in the same NOC as your current job.
If you plan to apply for PR, and are already eligible under either the FSW or CEC program, your employer can apply for an LMIA only to support a PR application (no fee, does not support a work permit), and that would boost your chances of getting selected for PR under the Express Entry System.
If you have no intention of applying for PR, there is no reason to get the LMIA, unless you need to renew your work permit (in about 2 1/2 years from now). The only other thing to consider is, if you have an open work permit because of your spouse's status in the country, and something happens to change the spouse's status, then you might want to consider getting the LMIA and a closed TWP.
More than that after LMIA will my 3 years open work permit be converted into 1 year closed work permit.
No, an LMIA does not affect your current work permit. If you had gotten the LMIA before your open work permit, then CIC would have changed your application to a closed work permit.
