Hello,

As above, if i go over on an IEC visa and work 1 year in a professional line of work will i be able
to apply for the CEC visa to gain PR. I have tried other forums and they didnt think so but i see
others seem to be doing it this way.My job falls under the NOC B category. Any info appreciated.

Cheers :)

As long as you fulfill all the requirements, no reason why you wouldnt qualify. I'm under IEC and will be applying shortly. Just go over the CEC webpage and make sure you can provide supporting evidence for all that they ask, and you will be good to go.

I am looking into the same thing, but is the above mentioned option not impossible by definition ?

For CEC you need 12 months of full time work. With the IEC you can stay in Canada for a year. So unless you have a job the same day you get your visa, you won't be working for 12 months, no ?

You make a very valid point! The ONLY way i can see this working... at all: -

1) On the DAY you complete your 1yr you submit your CEC application (If no T4 / NOA provide pay slips and explanation letter).
2) Pay the fees online - send a copy of the receipt with the CEC application and also with the BOWP application.
3) As soon as the BOWP application is filed, you have implied status.

4) HOPE that you either receive the AOR from CIC quickly or that they accept the receipt in place of the AOR for the purposes of processing the open work permit.

It may not be perfect - but it has to be your best shot ! :)

1. 2 flaws in your plan, the OP would have to start work on the day s/he arrives in Canada, and work to the final day of the year, unlikely.
2. Secondly you can't apply for the Bridging OWP until

To be eligible for a bridging open WP, the following parameters must be met:

The foreign national is currently in Canada;
They have valid status on a WP that is due to expire within 4 months;
They have received a positive eligibility decision on their PR application under one of the Economic Class programs above;
and
They have made application for an open WP.

1) "The ONLY way i can see this working... at all:". This means unlikely, it doesn't suggest that their is a high probability of success. There may be a low chance of this occurring but it IS still a possibility for some.
2) It has already been presented that in the absence of the initial AOR the IO may be willing to accept the online receipt/confirmation. Again, not likely but possibly worth a go !

As others have mentioned, it is unlikely you would be able to complete 12 months of full-time work experience on a single 12-month visa. If you are even 1 or 2 weeks short, you do not meet the CEC requirements.

Two options. Find an employer who would be willing to apply for an LMO, then you could apply for a TWP to extend your stay.

Also - depending on your IEC program and requirements - you can't renew the IEC, but some allow you to apply for a second one under certain circumstances...

You have 3 years in which to accumulate 12 months of full-time work experience (or the equivalent).
