Hey guys,

First of all congrats to all those people got ITA!

I work as full time university lecturer outside Canada from 8.1-5.30 every year. And my paystubs all say I work 40 hours a week and full time. But I have 2 months (June, July) each summer when I don't teach and get no salary. Other posts said any hours above 30 hours does not count. So I work only 44 weeks per year. Will cic consider this as full time? Seniors please advise.

I entered the pool with NOC 4011 skill level A and CRS 453

I am not an expert, but I don't think CIC will accept 44 weeks as a full year until you have worked another 8 weeks and I would suggest including an explanation for the break in employment.

But I imagine my case is very common in academia and I think a lot of people are in the same situation as me.

There are a lot of people who do not fit neatly into the Monday to Friday, 9-5! Pilots, cruiseship employees, oil rig workers, and the list goes on. People who do not fulfill the 52 full time weeks may have to work 14 months to make up for the 8 weeks off. It would be worth calling CIC for an official ruling.

This is not a break in employment, it is still being paid even if it is a vacation....this is the way all lectures work...the best way is to write an e-mail or call and ask CIC. I was a university lecturer for 6 years and I believe my experience is counted as 6 years. This is the way this job is ...t would be really weird not to be counted...

Thanks!

In that case I wouldn't be too worried tho cuz my experience would be counted as 1 year and a bit more. And 1 year and 2 years get the same CRS. I'm just worried about if my job wouldn't be qualified at all.

Thanks Ksiusha,

Did you apply for fsw before or enter EE?

Unfortunately my job isn't like yours. I don't work and don't get paid in summer :(

Variazioni stated that he does not work or get paid for those 8 weeks. How is this fair to compare to someone who works a 40 hr week, 12 months of the year with two weeks paid holiday?
