Does expiraton date on the travel visa affects the stay of the visitior

Hello dear Sir/Madam,

I'm a Canadian citizen who invited a family of 3 people to visit me for couple of weeks. The due date on their visa is Aug 18, 2015. It is a single travel visa.
Questions:
- May my guests stay in Canada pass Aug 18, 2015 if they came on Aug 16, 2015.
- How many days they can stay?

To add up more your guest can stay for six months ( if they are not restricted to live less than 6 months by issuing a visitor record or by writing a date on the entry stamp at the point of entry by immigration officer). Simple stamp with no exit date means 6 months. The validity of the visa does not matter as visa or trv is just for the purpose to travel and to seek entry( it was valid when they seek entry). The trv is not the status rather It is the stamp on the passport by CBSA which gives the entry seeker a visitor status.
