I have an online fulltime job. I also do online freelance work. The money I make directly goes to my bank account. Now am worried if I need to provide income tax returns for my visa application? Or a letter from an employer would be sufficient? I want to visit a friend in Quebec.

What are you trying to do with those documents? They are completely different.

Letter of employment is for showing ties, tax returns could be used (not recommended) as proof of funds.

Regardless, tax returns are not needed unless you don't have other papers to show income.

Ahh. I see. What are the recommended proof of funds documents then? Is a bank statement credible enough?

Most recommended. Also try showing three months of statements.
