Hello - I am sorry if this has been asked before but I havent had any luck with finding this information in the search box.
I have a temporary work permit in canada as a Live in caregiver and I have been with my employer since Sept 2013. She is pregnant and due by July and planning to go on a short mat leave term for 6 mos. We are looking to see if I can change my employer/ee contract from full time (44 hours) to part time (20 hours) for 6 months and then go back to Full time status. Does anyone know if this will effect my application for PR later on? I know I read I have to accumulate 2 years FT or 3900 hours within a 4 year period but I am not sure if I can accumulate the hours based on part-time status? It says on the website "If you have not worked full-time as a live-in caregiver for a minimum of two years or 3,900 hours in the four year period after your entry to Canada under this category, you cannot apply for permanent residence as a live-in caregiver." - my question is if I am able to work both FT and PT in order to gain my 3900 hours, can I then apply for my PR after I earn the 3900 hours both from full time AND part time hours? Or can I only calculate my 3900 hours based on my FT hours NOW and after my "6 month PT" arrangement?
Thanks for all your help.
