Would I, the one being sponsored, have to meet the same requirements as one independently applying to another form of visa/ect?

I, WILL BE, married to a Canadian Citizen living in Quebec. Does his work experience effect our chances of approval in any way, shape, or form?
He makes roughly around 18,000 a year, but we did the calculations and that should be enough to support both of us and even give us some wiggle room with his current apartment. He is independent and has a steady job, however that job is at minimum wage.
However, we are both concerned considering I am rather young (19) , have a GED and very little else to show for myself and that he (21) may have any application we send in rejected.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
