Hi everyone

So I mentioned in another post that I am trying to bring my Ugandan friend to Canada for a visit.

He is asking for my PR Card, Passport and proof of my financials (bank statement). Is this legitimate? I just want to be sure before proceeding, as I don't fully see the logic in him needing these documents.

It's a common request for an invitation letter. As a citizen, I have to provide my passport and birth certificate along with an invitation letter.

I did write an invitation letter that included:
- my request and reason (visit for a vacation)
- when we are planning his visit (August - couldn't be more specific)
- how long I knew him (since 2008)
- that I will be financially responsible for him in Canada
- that I know he will return and the reason (he just became a doctor there - needs to return to a job)

Did I miss anything that I should include?

And, it's typical to also need to provide as his sponsor the passport, pr card, my bank statement, etc.?

Either your PR or passport are usually required. Yes - your bank statement is required as proof of have the funds to sponsor his visit.

FYI - Ideally he should sponsor his own visit. Much higher chances of refusal if you do.
