We are planning to elope in Mid-March in Mexico and I'm just getting the paperwork together. To my awareness, we must first have the necessary documents(birth certificates, I'm from the US and she's Canadian) translated into Spanish, Notarized by the nearest Mexican Consulate and then Be 'Legalized' in the country where you live by the appropriate organization / authorities

I found a few websites that translate and legalize but are charging $200-$300 per document, which Seems outrageous.

Does anyone have any previous experience with this or any further information?
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I'm getting married this weekend in Mexico and I'm doing it with my passport ! (I'm Canadian, he is Mexican) They haven't ask for anything else. When I went to the consulate here in Playa del Carmen to ask for more information, they told me that they could ask for the notarized and translated birth certificate and then I would have had to do the same steps than you, but they weren't sure. And after going at the registro civilio they told me that the only difference is that without my birth certificate, the name of my father would not appear on the wedding certificate !

So you don't have to paid that much for that! Just the passport is ok! :)
