LANDED..........

Guys, for the Parent's PR application, which document provide the below information for the parents -

Written confirmation from Citizen and Immigration Canada that you are eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

So far, I / my parents have received letter of Sponsor Approval, request to submit PCC, Medical and PPR.

not sure how it works for parent sponsorship. for spousal sponsorship, this is what the AIP letter is for inland applicants. for non-inland applicants, you need to go through the process Rob posted about in the other thread. more than likely, none of what you currently have proves they have been "approved in principal" or "eligible for PR". getting OHIP before PR status is not easy. it requires an appeals process where i believe the review board contacts cic to confirm the applicant's current status. if your parents are landing as pr's in only 3-4 weeks, then i don't see the need for going through this lengthy process. it may be better to wait for them to land and apply for OHIP like every other newcomer.

Thanks for your feedback. I would agree that I will wait for the COPR to apply for OHIP. Would they get the OHIP card right away or would have to wait for 90 days? Note that they already had been staying in Ontario on SuperVisa for last 4 months.

Most likely they will need to wait for 90 days after landing as PRs (not just receiving COPR) to start using OHIP. They can apply for OHIP though anytime after landing, it just won't become active until the 90 days is up.

If you go through the appeals process, they may backdate the time they were eligible to start waiting period.

OHIP needs a COPR or, if it's an inland sponsorship (I am assuming it's not; but I haven't sponsored a parent) AIP letter.

90 days can be waived by the agent, but most don't. It will take a few weeks to get the card anyway...
