You have to get licensed to practice in Canada as a doctor. Do your homework before you land so you can decide if this is what you really want.

I do not know what type of doctor you are. If you are a General practionneer take a look at Newfoundland. They have expedited programs for GP's which allow them to work while getting certified. IE If you can find a GP who you can work with in Newfoundland for 12 months you are guaranteed a spot to write the board exams. Once licensed in any province it is easy to get a license in another province.

Thanx aghijan, you mean we dont need to write MCCE before we practice, were you able to get a place yourself?How easy is getting a spot? Hear Canada's sytem towards foreign doctors is not great, i have bee requested to submit documents or evaluation, how bout you. Your reply would be greatly appreciated

The funny thing is that Canada will let you immigrate based on you being a doctor but they will not let you practise until you get licensed unless you can find some kind of special program like aghijan has mentioned.

The reason for immigration and licensing could be different is that they are managed by different bodies and different laws. CIC looks for needs but the feedback loop to get the doctors to practice is not quite right there because the body that manages licensing or registration for doctors have their own standards else I guess they could end up with malpractice suits.

Anyway, i am just guessing.

thanks for providing the web for doctors to work in canada.Yes Iam aware of those exams to settle asa doctor. Anyway Ihave never say DIE attitude to pursue the goal.But out of curiosity Iam asking member doctors here,is that difficult to settle asa doctor inspite of acute shortage of doctors in canada.can we do private practice there aswe do in INDIA.Please enlighten me.there can be numerous doctors in this website ,please come out & give ur valuable views. regards vasala govind .
