I am sort of a confused immigration aspirant.
I am a trained Paediatrician in India (completed my DNB) with close to 1.5 years of experience. We have been thinking of immigrating to Canada. But the various discussions and other information available online seem to be very discouraging for those in Medical profession.
I do understand that I will have to clear the qualifying exam, take up a residency programme and then get trained as a specialist to work in my current profession for licensing. And the various discussions I have followed put the time frame for the whole process anywhere between 6 to 10 years. You would understand how discouraging that would be.
After discussions with few of my friends and colleagues, I am pursuing the option of moving into Canada with a PR, get trained in an alternate health profession (Ex: Hospital administration, Public health, Allied health, etc.,.) and opt for a job in that field. Parallely, I can also pursue the MCC licensing.
Am I thinking in the right direction ? If yes, would that be a feasible option ?
Also, what would be the alternate professions (medical related) that I can look at which does not require as rigorous a licensing process as for Doctors?
Please help me with some guidance and advice.
