My girlfriend and I have been living in the US for several years - I am a dual citizen and she is Canadian. She is going back to school in BC and we were wondering whether we have to import a car under this scenario:
I will be staying in the US working while she is in Canada getting her masters in BC. I have two cars here and was wondering whether I could essentially let her "borrow" one of my cars and avoid taxation at the border. Her master program is for a little under two years and the car would remain registered under my name in the United States - She will be moving back to the US once school is done and I want to keep the car (so we don't plan on selling the car in Canada in other words).
She has a car as well that is registered here but we are considering selling it if it turns out that we can save money on taxes.
