Hi all,

It didn't occur to me to ask this before...but...in my wife's application package, she included photographs, a marriage certificate, and some other little tidbits (such as ticket stubs with our names on them) that had some sentimental value. Do we get any of this back? Not a huge tragedy if not (the photos were copies, and I have another notarized copy of the marriage certificate), but I'm just curious.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, they will not send anything back to you from the application package. A part of the application specified this so that's why they asked for copies of everything.

If you applied inland, you won't get them back. They mentioned it in the document checklist. Anything you send to CIC will not be returned. Not even sure if you even get them back on a negative DM.

The "inland" experts have spoken. In case an "outland" applicant looks at this thread however:

Each VO might be different, but we got ALL the sentimental stuff back (photos and tidbits and what not), but we did NOT get any original official documents provided (ie marriage certificate) back.

Ah, so I probably already subconsciously read that months ago and that we proceeded anyways. :) I'm sure we went in with the mindset of knowing we'd likely never see any of this stuff again, so no harm done.

We actually applied outland, but probably the same story...

Thanks!

Might be a crapshoot then....someone should keep a scoreboard on what's kept and what gets returned!

We got all supporting documents back. Chat logs, pictures, ticket stubs ect. Official certificates were kept by th VO, but in our case were all certified copies anyways. We applied outland.

Outland as well. Mexico office and we got all of our stuff back. Husband said it was neatly organized in a seperate envelope :)

Each VO seems to be different. (We applied outland and got zero back.) So assume you will get nothing back and that way you won't lose anything you don't want to lose.
