i worked for a company for 1 yrs and after i file my application for CEC i left the job and moved to other province Now i am worried if the immigration officer calls my company and i know they wont respond in a positive way as i am not working ther.

Not seen it before but they could if your company doesn't appear to be legit

Yes, they can and do, not with every case however.

It will happen for random checks and also if they have any concerns re the legitimacy of your employment.

I'm in a similar situation, but since the employment can be verified with T4, pay stubs, Job Offer Letter, ..... there shouldn't be a reason for them to call.

To put it short; Yes, they do at times, contact the Employer's office, if they need to confirm/review any info.
As a matter of fact, in the GCMS notes of my friend, it was mentioned something like, "Contacted So and So of ABC Company and waiting for their response."
