This may only apply to those seeking CL sponsorship within Canada, but..

If you are found ineligible to sponsor, indicate whether you want to:
[ ] Withdraw your sponsorship application. All processing fees less $75 will be refunded

[ ] Proceed (appeal) without refund

Since Inland applicants are not eligible to appeal, if your application is denied, at least you'd have bus money to get you `home', after being evicted from Canada.

There are many other sites that encourage an applicant to ALWAYS check box 2, but don't explain that most applicants for sponsorship (save for CL sponsorship) apply OUTLAND (apparently).

Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Even for outland i don't think you should check the second box.

If sponsor is ineligible, why would you want to continue sending the app to outland visa office, for it to just get refused there and waste your money? Only reason is I think if you expect sponsor refusal and want to appeal via H&C route.

Agreed. Amazing how many immigration attorneys (at least from my research online) instruct people to ALWAYS check the second box.

An attorney will make money from the appeal, for one thing.
The other is a non-mercenary reason. Attorneys are trained to help people protect their rights, and so do not want you to give up your rights in any situation. IMO, in this case, it is better to just give up your right to appeal if found ineligible to sponsor, and then reapply. Better, cheaper, and faster. And you still have the right to appeal if you are found eligible to sponsor, but then the application is rejected for other reasons at the visa office.
