I work for a desi IT consulting service providing firm in USA. I don't need to tell to those Indians who are working or have worked before on H1B visa in USA that how these consulting companies work. They hire like 100s of consultants including directly from India and from US graduates. I am one of them.

My concern is I can get an employment letter from my employer and submit that along with my pay slips of last few months. But I am afraid that my employer would even remember my name.. or one in hundred times even if he remembered my name, he will definitely not remember what role I perform at my client side. I have applied for FSW 0213 category recently. Do anybody know if the officer can call up the employer to double check my employment with them??

Benny,

Can you please tell me whether they just ask and confirm our employment with them or they also ask about our role in the company?

Thank You

I would think that if you can support your original employment letter signed by supervisor or manager in your company with paystub, W2, the chance they check your employment history is very slim. I know it is not asked as required doc, but why not send it along with your package to strenghten your case!!!

There are way too many applications that they need to process, and Buffalo seems always understaffed - slowest in processing FSW. I think, CIC will try to verify if there is doubt in your employment history or the employment letter itself. There are people who make up the employment history and make a fake employment letter.

A certified copy of your TAX document like W2 will be hard to fake and CIC can check to IRS very quickly if they need to do so. Your W2 lists your company name, tax ID, your name, address, etc. CIC staff should be familiar with W2 when processing applicants from USA.
That is just my opinion.

It depends, they don't call to everyone but if they want to clarify something or something looks dodgy to them than they try to verify.

I too have the same concern as Den2Can. I have applied under 0213 and work for a big american consulting company. My concern is that the HR guy, who might take the call from CIC, will be aware of what I am doing at the client site.

Also, another question; we don't submit the employment letters, paystubs or w2s with the initial application...correct?

Thanks

Nope. You send the supporting documents after you received AOR. Then you have 120 days time to submit.

Thanks Erik.

How about IELTS? How do you know they did not accept the explanation you provided to support proficiency in english language?

Thanks,

You can try to provide CIC with written explanation in supporting your english proficiency, if that is what you were asking me... but if they don't think you have the level you claimed, you will get less score - remember what you provide is object to the reviewers' perception and anylisis and that in turn may negatively affect your admissability. IELTS score is an absolute score that they cannot deny! Why take a chance?

@ ALL

Thank you all for sharing your views. Other members.. please feel free to give more suggestions.. is there anyone whose employer got such call??

I agree 100% with Erik, about his comment, the more stronger evidence you send to support your application lesser the chances of anyone doing an Employment verification, also interesting to note on this is that with the rumors of a change in the NOC list coming forth anytime, all the more the scrutiny on the current list, especially 0213 which is IT Managers. But if at all they do an employment verification, it will be a detailed one, I mean from what I have read in the forums, not to scare you, but again make sure you make your case a strong one. All the very best to you and others who are in the same situation as yours.

NO - CIO will not verify anything. CIO will check if you meet the ministrial requirement, i.e. for FSW you have to have at least one year experience in one of the 38 jobs listed.
