true, found out about T4 and birth certificate - NO education proofs required though

The requirements changed on January 2, 2013; the education documents were dropped from the requirements, along with other changes. So if you are reading posts that are dated before that, the information may not be valid anymore.

thanks Jes, sounds about right

Would it still be valuable to send educational certificates, etc.?

(I prepared everything to send, then realized this week about all the changes. I have everything I need as per the old rules. I figured it might be more proof of 'Canadian Experience', or would it just annoy them as superfluous?)

No. Don't send things you don't need to.

If you have a PGWP then they will know you have completed your course. Don't send needless paperwork - it will only make your life and the life of the CIC officer more complicated!
