Do I qualify as a "Returning PR" ? Plz help!

Hi folks..

My wife & I landed in June 2010, and left after receiving our PR Cards due to job related commitments back home. We visited Canada again in March 2011 for a month or so.

As of now, we are all set to move to Canada for good.
Since we’ve been outside Canada for more than one year, do we qualify as returning residents (and hence could take all our personal effects along tax free)?

On another note, we did submit a brief “goods to follow list” upon our first landing (in 2010), but since we decided not to stay there, we didn’t ship those goods. Will this be an issue as we submit another (rather long!) list this time around?

Are you referring to the B4 form? I think you qualify for being "settlers" instead because this is your first time having the intention of moving to Canada for good. Better send an email to CBSA for clarification in this matter.

Yup, it's the form B4...i think.

True that it is the first time we are moving to Canada with an intention to stay permanently. Therefore in theory, I think we should qualify for the tax exemptions (either as settlers or returning PR’s).

However, I am expecting someone would share a similar experience. Otherwise, I'll contact CBSA
