Hi,

My mom is in Canada, Quebec on a super visa that expires in June 2019.
She has been here since November 2017 and her supervisa expires along with her passport in June of this year.

I have applied for pr sponsorship family class and sent the application around September 2018 . My understanding is that pr could take over 2 years.

My question is, what should we do now? Can I renew her visitor visa before it expires so she can stay here and wait for her pr? Do I have to renew her passport first? Does she have to leave the country first? Does applying for pr mean that she has implied status and does that mean she can just stay here and wait without renewing her visa? We are not sure what's the best way to proceed and stressing out about it...

Thank you for any information!

You'll certainly need to renew her passport. She needs a valid passport to become a PR.

Yes - you will also have to extend her stay in Canada as a visitor to keep her status here legal.

Thanks for the reply.
So, do you think I can extend her stay as a visitor before June so she can wait for her PR here even though she would have been in Canada for around 1.5 years by June? Would they refuse and ask her to leave the country?
