Do I need to Inform embassy if I change from Full time Masters to Part time ?

Hi

I am Dinesh from India Studying Masters in a Canadian University from Jan 2012 on Student VISA(Category S-1) as a full time student. My department has no summer courses so I am planning to convert to part time Masters and do a course in other department only for this summer. Can I change to Part Time Studies ? Do I need to inform the embassy ?

Hi,

1. Are you sure if your school allow international students to register/take courses on part time basis. To maintain visa conditions, you must remain a full time student. You can be a part time student in the "last" semester provided only few courses left to complete.

ya it allows but the reason for my conversion should be reasonable
i contacted my graduate office they asked me to contact canada embassy and verify whether i can convert to part time, if they agree and we will proceed - as said by graduate officer

I have a brother studying at university, and he is planning to change from Full time to part time, do he need to inform Embassy ?

Please keep in mind that only those students are eligible to apply for work permit who took their program full time..in case you want to apply for it after studies
