I submitted my EE profile as common-law but need to change this to single as it turns out I misread the definition of common-law for immigration purposes and was instead using our provincial definition. Do I need to submit a new profile for this? And when we end up being common-law early next year, will I be at risk of being accused of falsifying my profile?

Thanks.

How long have you been living together? As your partner is Canadian, whether you are common-law or not has no effect on your app, so it isn't a big deal.

About 6 months. I know it isn't a big deal but I still claimed we are common law and I can't seem to be able to change it. It is greyed out when I try and change it.

It's fine. When you get your ITA, as long as you have the correct amount of points without your partner included, you just submit your app as single with an LOE.

That's great. I'm hoping by then that if they ask since when we were common-law, the March 2020 date I give doesn't conflict with having initially saying we were common-law already when I first submitted my profile last month.

Thank you kindly for your response. It's much appreciated.

As I said, it doesn't really matter since your partner is Canadian and isn't included as a dependent in the app either way.
