Do i need to book a return flight ticket prior to arriving in Canada on a visitor visa

I am planning on visiting Canada in 2026 and have some of the travel schedule worked out but some of it is very fluid. Do I have to show a return flight ticket on arrival or can i book a return flight once I am out there? I am planning on being out there for around 4-6 weeks

Most airlines won't let you board if you don't have a return ticket.

You would still want to have a return ticket for a 4-6 week visit to ensure a better chance of entering Canada even though the airline also likely requires you to purchase the a return ticket to get on your flight.
