Do I NEED to ask for a work permit before I move or can I apply for a work permit once Im in Canada within the 6 months?
Thanks a lot
larryUK said:If you are planning to come as a visitor and find work it probably wont happen, you don't just ask for a work permit it's a very difficult and lengthy process to roll up as a visitor and land a job (after all this is exactly what immigration don't want)
You would also need to show how you're going to support yourself for 6 months (you can't say you're going to find a job there).

1. You can't apply in Canada as a visitor.
2. You have to find an employer, who is willing to get an approved Labour Market Opinion from HRSDC after advertising the position on the job bank for 2 and then demonstrating that there are no Canadians or PRs available of qualified for the position. Depending the on the province anywhere from 6-16 weeks.
3. Once you have an approved LMO if your Visitor visa exempt you can apply at a border Port of Entry or if not, you have to apply to an overseas office.

Yea what i could do then is maybe just go for like a month, try not to get a job but really visit different towns and at the same time get some contacts and maybe get someone to do it for me when I come back to my country![]()
Is this possible? what do you think?

Since you were removed from the US after a long overstay - I assume you're aware that you have a 10 year ban from re-entering the US? Note that getting a Canadian work visa, PR or even Canadian citizenship won't change the fact that you have a ban (i.e. you still won't be able to re-enter the US until the ban has been completed/lifted).
Good luck again.
