HI, I am currently residing in Canada and my current closed work visa (by LMIA sponsor) is going to be expired this week.
me and my common-law partner submitted PR application 2 weeks ago as a sponsored common-law partner but haven't received AOR (Acknowledgement of receipt) letter.

I know I can't work as soon as my current work visa expires. but Before my current visa expires, Should i apply for visitor visa to stay legally in Canada while waiting for an AOR letter to apply open work permit? As my understanding, I can apply for open work permit AFTER i get an AOR letter.

I also know there is maintained status (implied status) so and asked many immigration agencies. They all said I need to apply for a visitor visa anyway. Because the fact that I have applied for permanent resident does not automatically extend my status legally.. And the maintained status (implied status) is for temporary residence (when a work permit holder is waiting for another work permit or study or visitor visa). are they right?

(BTW, NO plan to leave/trip outside of Canada until get my PR)

i’m so confused and this is my last way to get some help.. If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know. Thank you !

Wrong section of the forum. This section deals with Family Sponsorship.

Post to the Express Entry or PNP section of the forum, depending on which program you'v eapplied under.

Having a PR application in progress does not give you maintained / implied status.

I am not sure if she means that she is being sponsored by her common law partner who is already a PR or if they applied together to become PR. under economic stream ..
