Do I need to apply for a visa?

Hi,
Im going to Carleton University for a semester exchange, I .eave in January and will be back sometime in June. I've done the Canada visa assessment and it said because I'm there six months or less I may not need a visa as I'm British citizen so do i need to apply anyway??
if anyone knows anything can they let me know

nope u dont need . u should apply for study permit only if u plan to study more after completion of 5 month exchange program.

but, if you don't have a valid visa in your passport or any reference letter from CIC, you can't travel to canada

Note, the OP is a British citizen, doesn't require a TRV to travel to Canada.
