Dear all,
i am a civil engineer from Pakistan and i would like to apply for express entry. do i need to hire an immigration consultant for this purpose or can this be done on our own easily ??
and if we do it on our own what problems can we probably face.
I would love some advice on this matter. :)

Thank you

Kindest Regards

If you are willing to put the effort, read about the policies extensively and be patient, then you don't. I'm doing everything myself and I don't see any need to hire a consultant. The few consultants I have met sounded shady and usually danced around important questions like their rate of success and stuff.

In my opinion, people here on the board provide far better advice than any consultant I talked to. For free.

honestly i think i've ridden both boats at the same time. I've also read numerous stories about agents/'attorneys' screwing up by forgetting or missing details.

in my own case, i hired an attorney just to review documentation. he missed an important document due to which my application got cancelled. now i'm filing a CSE and doing another profile, but who knows when ill get an ITA, if at all.

i think the decision rests on whether you can really understand the information required, feel confident in providing information (particularly for the last 10 years you'll have to tell them even about your breathing patterns) and filling forms.

Doing it on your own is best. As others have already said, the process is pretty simple if you go through the website and this forum thoroughly. It would save you consultancy fee and also the risk of missing out on any document.

Also, it looks like your profession is regulated. You might want to research on that part too. Probably, you would need to acquire a degree or certificate in Canada to secure a job in civil engineering.

Hope this helps!
