Hi all,
My online status has been showing "Decision made" since July 15. The GCMS notes that came before this status update showed - Eligibility "Passed", RCMP "Passed", Medical "In Progress". Once my medical was received, the status changed.
My current work permit is until August 31. I got a new work permit with the same employer until Feb 2015. I renewed my OHIP and my SIN.
I also applied for a new visa thinking that I could travel on my visa if I had to travel that is until I got my PR card. Later I found out that the visa will be cancelled once I become a PR.
Technically I don't need a visa because I don't really plan to travel outside Canada for a long time and even if I do once I get my PR, I'll need travel documents anyway.
Question: Is there any other purpose of a visa? Would I need it while landing if that happens after August 31 when my current visa expires? Or would they need a valid visa while giving me a PR stamp? After hearing stories of passports being misplaced, I would rather not let my passport go unless it is for my PR.
Thanks in advance.
