Hi,

I have a study visa to Canada, and I am about to book a flight since flight prices are increasing everyday, but I have a connecting flight in Turkey and a layover of around 19 hours.

I am not gonna leave the airport. Do I need a transit visa? or an E-visa?

I am from Egypt.

Thanks,

Thanks,

As far as I know, you only need transit visa if your lay over is more than 24 hours (except for US territories), but just to make sure, pls contact ur travel agency or the airline

I am not sure but I think transit visa is required when layover is more than 48 hours,,, experts help him,,

If you are NOT going to leave the airport, then you do not need any kind of visa. Just go to the transit lounge directly. There is no special transit visa system for Turkey. As a citizen of Egypt, you can get a one month single entry visa at the Airport, if you already hold a valid Schengen, US or UK visa. Otherwise you can get a visa for Turkey at the Turkish consulate at the country you reside in http://www.mfa.gov.tr/visa-information-for-foreigners.en.mfa

Thanks guys for your comments! I have already booked the flight and here's what I have gone through;

-I called Turkish embassy in Cairo and they only picked up after calling around 30 times without answer (not exaggerating). She told me that I do not need a transit visa and I can wait at the airport, but since it is a very long layover she said I can get a permission (costs 20$) to leave the International Ataturk Airport and visit some places.

I'll be travelling to Montreal via Minnepolis (USA), Do I need a transit visa? I'm an Indian citizen, boarding flight from Delhi and my connecting flight from US is just after 2 hrs.

^ You need a transit visa to the US ( costs around 160$ and I think also you need an interview). I would advise you not to have a transit flight via the US.

There're many easier ways; UK, Turkey, etc..

Dont book ur flight via US as u must need transit VISA for it. Moreover,transit visa procedure in US may take upto 3-5 hours!!
If u dont crack the interview than thy vl deport u 4m US only!!!
