Do I need a study permit for online classes

I'm staying in Canada right now under a visitor record that is good until this December. I found an online course that can be completed in 6 months and was wondering if I needed a study permit to take it.

1. You do not need any Study permit for programs that lasts 6 months or less.

I had the same question and I called the Call Centre. The agent told me online classes do not require a study permit because you don't have to reside in Canada to take the classes (no entry into Canada). She offered to email me the policy too.

Ok awesome, this is what I was wondering. Because one course is 6 months and the other is 7 months or so and I think I'd like that one more. Thanks amikety!
