Hello,
My family and I live in Quebec on work permit, and, after getting the CSQ, we applied for PR almost one year ago.
We sent the application to Sidney but it was immediately transferred to the Case Processing Pilot Office in Ottawa.
They received the application on March 14, 2012 and sent us an email asking for the medicals. We did the medicals in May 2012 and they received them.
Checking our status on the cic website, it is still "application received" on March 14, 2012. Medicals received". After more than 10 months, we are not even "in process"!we emailed them a couple of times and got the automatic reply:
Dear Madam / Sir,
This is in response to your email (see below).
Your application is in process in Ottawa. No further action is required by you at this time.
We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
The standard processing time for your immigration category is 16 months.
For future reference, in all correspondence to our office, please refer to the applicant's full name, date of birth and file number.
This is so frustrating!the standard processing time for Quebec applicants on the CIC website is actually 9 months (updated on the 24th October 2012)
Our work permit is going to expiry in July 2013 and we have no idea if it would be better for us to re-apply for the work permit in order for my husband (principal applicant) not to have any gap with visa at work.
But the most important question is: is it likely for us that we have to redo the medical again? in this case, who would pay?
I think it is ridiculous that they asked for medicals so soon if they could not guarantee to complete the process within one year.
Is it very common having to redo medicals?
