Guys I have a query. If I apply for a study visa for may 23 session to do MS and get it by January. Can I go to canada in January itself for an internship for 4 months and then start my masters after that?

Background - I have been offered a fellowship by the quebec govt to intern at a university for 4 months. I have applied for a visitor visa but I have been waiting for 3 months for PPR. I also plan on doing masters in the same university. So I want to know if I can do my internship before i start MS on study visa ?

I have all required funding and invitation documents

No - you can't. You are not allowed to start working until you start your studies full time. Once you start your studies full time, you are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during your studies.

If you want to do a fellowship beforehand, you need to get a work permit.

Thank you for the reply, So my fellowship doesn't require me to have a work permit. It comes under work permit exemption. (Global Skills Strategy: Work permit exemptions - Canada.ca)
