Hi everyone,

I am wondering if anyone else has been in this situation:

My husband and I intended on applying for Family Class Spousal Sponsorship (Outland) in January of 2016, so he got his medical done. We did not end up applying until November 14th, 2016.

We applied with the help of a lawyer who told us to WAIT until they requested my husband to re-do his medical. My husband tried to get it re-done anyway, despite our lawyer telling us to wait, but the doctor who did his first medical also told him he had to wait until they requested him to do it again.

As of Friday, we have DM on ECAS but they did NOT ask my husband to do his medical again. I want to take the DM as a positive sign for PPR soon, but I am scared now because I realized that they have not asked him to do the medical again.

Does this mean we have been declined? The initial medical has expired.

We have a very straightforward case and sent many things to prove that our marriage and relationship with each other is genuine so I cannot see any other reason that the DM would mean not approved other than the whole medical situation. As we have a representative, we cannot check myCIC to see if the medical was passed or not.

Can anyone provide me with any input on this?

Thanks!

Hi ,
Immigration sometimes extends the validity of Medicals ( they did it or my wife ) without telling the applicant , So your decision must be a positive one .

CONGRATULATIONS

I hate these cases when you can't just ask your lawyer if medicals are passed or not. I hate to be out of picture. If I am in your place, I would ask for a screenshot of my CIC to see. At any case, medicals are 1 year, and can be extended slightly but not much. Now, if a PPR would come, the visa will be of a short duration.

I am in the same situation. My husband DM changed but no email came yet. I also took as positive. Fingers crossed

If a medical is extended, it is generally for a year.

Thank you so much! :) Also, thank you very much for sharing that information with me, it does set my mind at ease a little bit.

I probably could have asked her, but I don't want to ask her all the time to check that for me. We should be able to see it ourselves though, you are right. Thank you very much for your input.

Thank you for sharing. Wishing you all the best and I have my fingers and toes crossed that we will both receive PPR this week! :)

As others have said, the VO may well have decided to extend the medical (they don't tell you if or when they have), so no request for a new medical is not necessarily a bad sign.

You have decision made, in 99.9% of cases where there has not been obvious earlier requests for additional information, this is normally as YES, great news!

Depending on the nationality of the PA (specifically if they are from a visa exempt country), they do not always as for passport or even a copy of the passport. They didn't in our case (they already had a copy of my wife's UK passport with the initial pack).

You should assume this is all great news! Hopefully the CoPR is in the mail!

Thank you very much for your input, I really appreciate it! I am keeping positive that it is great news and that the medical was extended.

My husband is from Reunion Island (a department of France), so he is visa exempt. A copy of his French passport was sent with our initial pack too.

Do you know if this means we will not hear anything until he receives the coPR in the mail? Do they do any other form of correspondence to let us know we have been approved? Hopefully if this is the case the coPR does not take long to reach him, I am trying to be patient, but I am so impatient. ;D

I am trying to remember (yes, I know it was only in December 2016 :D)! I know we got a PDF attachment via email for Sponsor Approval. I do not recall receiving any email or PDF attachment for the final decision (pretty sure we didn't), but then we knew that it was an 'accepted' decision as I had access to MyCIC, rather than rely on ECAS.

Our CoPR took a mere 4 days to arrive (we are in the UK), but it seems common for it to take 3 / 4 weeks for the CoPR to arrive.

When it does arrive, please check immediately and very carefully what the expiry date for the CoPR is. They usually allow you a few weeks, but it can sometimes only be a couple of weeks and you may have to jump on a plane quite quickly - at least to land to activate PR!

Thanks for sharing.

It will probably take 3-4 weeks for us since the VO is in Paris and my husband is in Reunion, which is off the coast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean.

Thank you as well for your advice. We will definitely check the coPR carefully and immediately when he receives it. I will tell my husband to start getting ready to come just incase they only give him a couple of weeks.
