Hi,

I am from India and will be applying for PR in canada this year in May 2013. I scored a 8.0 in my IELTS.
I am married since 4 years but most likely will file for a divorce before May' 13. Can that be a reason that my PR application will get rejected??
What is the best thing to do? please advise.

A divorce is not a reason for rejection. If you still have 67 points without your spouse, you are good. But if you have under 67 points without your spouse, a divorce means you will be rejected for not meeting eligibility.

Hi , not if you claimed points for your spouse education or her siblings being in Canada etc and that swung the points in your favour.
If you still score over 67 without her on application, then you are fine.

Whats important is, as soon as you get the court order, you have to update the CHC.

Thank you very much for your replies.

So , Should I go ahead and file for Divorce before the 4th May 2013 deadline when the application begins? ONce I file the case - which is a mutual divorce, I will get the divorce in 6 months.
So, I guess, I will just need to submit the divorce application letter or whatever paper I will have, right??

Yes, include divorce application paper or whatever you have as proof of filing divorce with your application. When divorce is granted, submit the divorce decree as well.
