Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi Folks,

I've been using CIC's CRS Calculator Tool for the past few weeks to see our chances at Express Entry, and it's been giving me 464 points. However, today, since I have all the documents and results ready, I input the same information into MyCIC while creating the express entry profile, and I'm surprised to see our score up at 469! It is definitely good news, but what would be the reason for the extra 5 points? I'd like to be sure before I break out the champaign and start celebrating!

Thanks,
Mohamad

Just a note - the difference appears to be 25 points under: A) Official Language proficiency and foreign work experience = 25

My wife (the main applicant) is getting only 25 points on the CRS Tool for her 2 years of experience and CLB 10 in all areas of IELTS - however, Express Entry (MyCIC) is giving her the full 50 points.

Any explanation for this?

Typically, a 5 point difference would be related to points based on your age or language ability. Recheck the information provided in MyCIC.

As your 2nd post states that there is a 25 point difference, the system is awarding your spouse with 3 years of FWE instead of 2. Check the input data again.

Yes Avisad - my bad, there is a 25 point difference, not 5. CRS tool score was 444.

I'm going through them again and I can't find anything wrong... She has 2 years and 3 months of experience, but the number of weekly hours is 45 instead of the minimum 35 (or 40) for full time. Could it be that the system has equated these to 3 years of experience?

Thank you!
MF

Anything more than 30 hours/week is full time work so that shouldn't be the problem. Do they have any Canadian work experience?

Nope - not Canadian work experience at all.. Just 2: one in Qatar which we are claiming the points for (same NOC as the one entered for the application) and one in Lebanon for 2 years 9 months, but in a different NOC (so I don't think she is receiving any points for that.)

I tried removing the Lebanon experience entirely and re-transmitting, but points didn't go down, so it's not because of that.

You can mix and match multiple NOC experiences for Skills Transferability points. So the system is awarding you the right points. Retain that Lebanese experience else your points will drop within 24 hours.

That's awesome! I thought experience had to be in only one NOC for it to be considered.

Anyway, thanks for the good news. At 469, we should hopefully receive an ITA at the next round of invites.. Our next worry: FBI PCC :)

Cheers,
MF

What's your noc?

Hi guys
I have observed a similar issue I checked my score in the points calculator and got 372 pts and when I created an actual EE profile I got 391 points
How can this be explained

Did you get your degree assessed and uploaded the information to your profile?

Yes I have got my post secondary polytechnic diploma and engineering graduate degree assessed by WES and uploaded that information.
However I wasn't able to enter my diploma in crs points calculator.

Who is the primary applicant? Spouse does not get any points for work experience if it is outside of Canada. Do not enter her work experience when creating an EE profile, unless it is in Canada.
