Difference between Work Permit and Work Permit-Intra Company Transfer

Planning to apply for visa through my employer. What is the difference between Work Permit and Work Permit - Intra Company Transfer. Any Eligibility criteria for both visa types and their implications on future PR/ Citizenship?

Closed Work Permit requires an approved LMIA from your employer.

ICT does not require an LMIA. However it does require you to be in an executive role or for your employer to prove your knowledge is highly specialized.

Closed Work Permit will immediately give you additional points for applying for PR. ICT won't give you job offer points until you've been working in Canada for a year.

Is there a difference between these visas (WP and WP-ICT) with regard to spouse getting a professional job there? Like in the US, H1B visa holder's spouse cannot apply for Work Authorization while L1's spouse can apply.

Spouse is eligible to get open work permit. It doesn't depend on the type of your work permit.

Also your spouse can apply for work permit along with your work permit application. Unlike in US, you don't have to wait till you land in Canada to apply work permit for spouse.

Not sure about your company policies. Most of the major IT companies in India will process your wife's work permit along with your work permit.

She will be applying for spousal open work permit.

No need for job offer to apply for open work permit as accompanying spouse.

Finally I decided to go with WP-ICT. Under ICT what is the difference between Specialized Skill and Managerial? In terms of number of years for WP and PR application points.

Just wanted to know...My wife is working for TCS bangalore and her visa is processing.. she will be traveling by Jan 2019 ..I am also planning to quit my job here and accompany her as a dependent..should I land in Canada to apply for Open work permit or can I apply it from India only ? Your assistance will be much appreciated
